This is a French Art Nouveau period advertising poster created by Paul Berton in 1900. The subject of this image, as seen in the bottom left of the poster, is "Les Eglantines," which translates to "Wild Roses." Although the subject is the beautiful flowers themselves, the woman seen in the center of the image gathering them is what makes this poster captivating. Berthon's ability to capture this flower gatherer's enjoyment of the beauty and fragrance of these wild roses allows the viewer to transport themselves into the idyllic landscape that is seen in this poster. This poster is a wonderful example of the romantic and effervescent nature of advertising posters from the Art Nouveau period in France.
