This is a Modern period New Wave style French advertising poster created by Bernard Villemot for Bally shoes in 1979. This poster features bright blocks of colors and simple lines, and it perfectly encapsulates modern French sophistication and style. It is an exquisitely crafted abstract image of the bottom of two pairs of legs: one man and one woman. Villemot depicts the woman's legs and her gorgeous heels in a stylized silhouette of their profile, one leg red and the other pink. Behind her, there is another stylized silhouette of the man's legs and beautiful loafers, facing forwards and composed of blocks of red, brown, and blue.
The white, simple typography for Bally in the bottom center of the image perfectly completes this archetypal New Wave style French advertising poster. This is a wonderful New Wave style advertisement created by the prolific and renowned graphic designer, Bernard Villemot.
Bernard Villemot won multiple awards for his posters, and his work has been featured in retrospective exhibitions at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.
